Catherine “Cathy” Patterson, 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 14, 1947, in Sampson County, N.C., to the late C.B. Honeycutt and Geranium Tew Honeycutt.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Honeycutt, and sister, Donna Honeycutt.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years and the love of her life, Gary Patterson; mother, Geranium Honeycutt; daughter, Tiffany Basden; son-in-law, Sam Basden; daughter Angie Patterson; grandchildren, MacKenzie and Makalya Basden; and her beloved dog, Buttons.

Cathy dedicated her life to public education as a teacher’s assistant and, later, as a librarian assistant. She loved her family, family vacations and celebrating their birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions, gardening, and listening to beach music. Cathy was known as a caring and giving person who had impacted many lives. She was a doting grandmother to MacKenzie and Makayla, and her “grand dogs” Cooper, Marley, and Milo.

She is loved by so many; she will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Coddle Creek ARP Church. The family welcomes visitation at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

In place of flowers, memorials may be made to Coddle Creek ARP Church.
