Mr. Charles Ernest Summers, 90, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at The Gardens Assisted Living in  Statesville, N.C.. He was born in Iredell County on April 2, 1934, and was the son of the late Rufus Summers and Minnie Gardner Summers.

He attended the Iredell County Schools and was employed as a saw mill worker for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Summers; a son, Jeffery Wayne Daniels; grandchildren, Courtney Daniels and Kelly Summers; his sisters, Edith Stevenson, Lousie Summers, Margaret McLean,Etta Stevenson, and Ruthie Mae Redmond; and four brothers, his twin, James Summers, Wayne Summers, Marshall Summers, and Nathaniel Howard.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his children, Pamela Daniels, Kay Dobbins, James Summers, Thomas Summers, and Barbara Brown; twenty-one grandchildren; sixty great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; his siblings, Gwendolyn Summers, Kathy (Glen) Millsaps, Larry (Geneva) Summers, and Thomas (Buck) Summers; sisters-in-law, Joyce Howard and Gracie Summers; brother-in-law, Gilbert Redmond; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Elder Christopher E. Daniels will officiate and Rev. Glenn Millsaps will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.

Mr. Summers will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, where members of the family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
