Charles Russell Deitch Jr. of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Charles was born in Meadville, Pa., on January 21, 1942. He was the son of the late Charles Russell Deitch Sr. and Eleanor Few Deitch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Lee Deitch; and son, Jeffrey Charles Deitch.

He is survived by his wife Ronda of the home; a son, Steven Eric Deitch and wife Leslie. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Cooper and Morrison Deitch, all of Bluffton, S.C.; a sister, Susan Bradford and husband Barry of New London, N.H., and their children, Trisha and husband Rick of West Palm Beach, Fla., Christopher and wife Dawn of Boulder, Colo.; and brother-in-law, Donald Marsteller and wife Dianna of the Villages, Fla., and their families.

Charles proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Navigation Quartermaster from 1962 to 1966 aboard the U.S.S. Lake Champlain, the U.S.S. Duxbury Bay, and the U.S.S. Yellowstone.

Upon completion of his service, he attended Penn State College, in Erie, Pa., where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering Design. He spent his career as a Plastic Injection Mold Designer, retiring in 2008 from Tyco International Electronics.

Charles attended many Classic Car Shows with his friends, showing his original glacier blue 1955 Chevrolet 150 Utility Sedan. He owned this car since 1972. He really did buy it from a little ol’ lady.

Visitation at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, will be held on Saturday, August 3, from 1 to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iredell County Humane Society, the American Red Cross or the charity of one’s choice.
