Charlie Lee Ramseur, 82, of 543 Woodlawn Drive, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his family. He was born in Iredell County on October 13, 1941, and was the son of the late Charles Scott Sr. and Ruth Ramseur Shuford.
He was once married to Betty Burton Ramseur, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Bernice Scott; his son, Derrick Ramseur; and his siblings, Billy Wayne Shuford, Gail Shuford, Tonya Shuford, Melvin Shuford, Dana Imes Shuford, Michael Ramseur and Charles W. Scott Jr.
He attended the Iredell County Schools and was a member of Divine Ministries. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.
In addition to Betty Ramseur, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life his children, Sherman (Denna) Burton of Statesville, Harriet Burton of Statesville, Steve (Frances) Burton of Statesville, Charles Ramseur of Statesville, Angela Mosley of Washington, D.C., Fralicha Ramseur of Statesville, Sheila Ramseur of Salisbury, Emily Ramseur of Statesville, Charlene Ramseur of Statesville, Paula (Samuel) R. Houpe of Charleston, S.C., Jevar Harris Ramseur of Statesville and Quadarius Ramseur of Statesville; three brothers, Larry Scott of California, Michael S. Scott of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles (Marlene) Shuford of Statesville; four sisters, Brenda Shuford Allred of Hickory, Joyce L. Scott of Pittsburgh, Pa., Melba J. (Donald) Moss of Atlanta, Ga., and Velma J. Livingston of Pittsburgh, Pa.; twenty-six grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Pastor Tewanna Myers will officiate, and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 until 1:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of his daughter, Fralicha Ramseur, at other times.
