It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chris Nelson, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 67.

Born on December 5, 1956, Chris was a man of many passions. His love for fishing was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with countless hours of peace and joy by the water. Whether he was casting a line in Lake Norman or deep-sea fishing off the Gulf of Mexico, he found immense pleasure and tranquility in the sport.

Another of his cherished hobbies was working on model trains. His meticulous attention to detail and boundless creativity brought miniature worlds to life, captivating everyone who saw his intricate setups. His model train collections were not just a hobby but a testament to his dedication and artistic spirit.

Above all, Chris treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He loved gathering at friends’ and families’ homes for holidays, birthday parties or just a spontaneous BBQ. He had an incredible gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, whether through sharing stories, offering support, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Chris is survived by his loving mother, Nellie Ann Nelson; children, Andrea Nelson-Miller (daughter), Chris Nelson (son), Brandon Miller (son-in-law), Whitney Nelson (daughter-in-law); and his adored grandchildren, Logan, Addison, and Kaylee. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and zest for life.

A celebration of Chris Nelson’s life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 East Plaza Drive, Mooresville NC 28115.

Though he is no longer with us, the spirit of Chris Nelson will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, passion, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us.
