Clarence “Monk” Edward Black Jr., 75, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, N.C.

He was born on February 18, 1949, in Mooresville to the late Clarence and Lula Gryder Black. Monk attended Mooresville High School. He was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Day.

He is survived by his son, Jason E. Black of Mooresville.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, November 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, PO Box 977, Mooresville, NC 28115, to offset funeral expenses.
