Consuelo “Connie” Carmelita McCoy was born on September 18, 1942, in Atlanta, Ga. She passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. Connie lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering strength. She was 81 years old.

Connie spent much of her career at Troutman Industries before finishing her professional journey at Neiman Industries. A lover of travel, she often remarked that her favorite destination was always “the next place on their list,” reflecting her boundless curiosity and joy in exploring the world with her family. Connie and Ed enjoyed many years with their friends and family in the Dixie Wheeler western square dance club.

Connie is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Edward McCoy; her son Joey McCoy (Sandy); and her daughter Reanette Tiikkala (Rick). She was a proud grandmother to Shawn Tiikkala (Aubrey), Amber Tiikkala (Michael Knapp), Justin Tiikkala, and Samantha McCoy.

A family and friends visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of Connie’s life at 3 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brian Burgess, both taking place at Beulah Baptist Church in Statesville.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family thanks all the home healthcare workers and the Gordon Hospice House caregivers for their compassionate care and guidance throughout her long extended illness. Their gentle support and love helped Connie transition from this earthly life to the gates of heaven, where she now dances among the angels.

Connie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her deep love for her family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she touched. She will be dearly missed.
