Dawn Renee Hertzog, 60, of Taylorsville, N.C., wife of David Hertzog, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Dawn was born on March 10, 1964, to Rev. Dr. D. Wayne Dyer and Martha Murry Dyer in Burgaw, N.C.

In addition to her parents, those left to cherish and honor her memories include her husband, David Hertzog; her son, Nathaniel Hertzog (Jamie-lynne) of Virginia; her grandson, Israel; her sisters, Hope Dyer Cumbia (Allen), Lisa Dyer Evans (Jack), and Elizabeth Dyer Alamilla (Jose); her brother, Eric Dyer (Jamie); and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dawn was predeceased by a brother, Dale Dyer.

Dawn was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Her faith was central to her life. She was a member of Market Place Church in Hickory, N.C. Dawn had a unique ability to capture the beauty of God’s creation through her art, with her paintings reflecting her love for nature and the divine. She was a devoted homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the arts and crafts she cherished. Her creative spirit shone through her passion for singing, songwriting, painting, and soap-making. She was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA-Broken Chains Hickory)
Among her many passions, Dawn had a special fondness for sunflowers. Her son, Nathaniel, often sent her photos of the flowers, knowing they would bring a smile to her face.

Dawn’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she took great pride in watching her grandson grow. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, creativity, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
