Dianne Brown, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 6, 1946, to Charles E. Stikeleather and Geneva Johnson Stikeleather, both of whom preceded her in death.
Dianne was a graduate of Scotts High School and Kings College. On March 21, 1970, she married the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Brown.
Dianne was employed at Iredell-Statesville Schools for 29 years as a Teacher Assistant at Union Grove Elementary School and a bus driver for North Iredell High School, North Iredell Middle School and Union Grove Elementary School. She retired, and then went back to Union Grove to tutor and volunteer for a few more years. Dianne enjoyed music and playing the piano. She was particularly fond of Floyd Cramer and The Carpenters. She loved spending time with her family and frequent visits to the Burger Barn and the Corner Kitchen, where she would always encounter friends and children she had helped teach throughout the years.
Diane was also a long-time member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. She was actively involved prior to her illness with teaching Sunday School classes for younger children, helping with Vacation Bible School and the Tweens program with Union Elementary at the church.
Left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 54-plus years, Jerry; and sons, Scottie (Tara) and Michael (Lisa) Brown. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brandi, Tracy and Jeffrey Black and Kimber Somers; her sister Joyce Adams (Lynn); and two nieces and a nephew and a host of other family members.
The family wishes to thank the staff from Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, especially all the ladies involved in Dianne’s care for the last six months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Union Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Neill Shaw and Jim Harner officiating. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service from 12 until 1:30 p.m. and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
