Donald Ray Vernon, 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1946, in Smithfield, N.C., to the late Troy and Eunice Davis Vernon.

Don was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from UPS after 30 years in the Charlotte area. He enjoyed traveling, camping, collecting, and selling antiques, records, and baseball cards. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Randy Peeden and Doug Miller.

Those left to cherish Donald’s memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Terry Wells Vernon; son, Robert Edward Vernon and wife Starr; brother, Troy F. Vernon Jr; sisters, Glenda Faye Peeden and Barbara Jean Miller; and grandchildren, Hayden Raye Vernon, and Sara McKinnley Vernon.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
