Dorcas Susan Brotherton, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Dorcas was born on May 17, 1935, to the late Robert Sloan Brown Sr. and Beulah Klutz Lipe. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Junior Lester “Pete” Brotherton; her brothers Fred, Robert, and Homer Brown; and her son, Brian Brotherton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sharon Baughman, and her husband, Jeff Baughman, of Concord, Calif.

She is also survived by her sister, Rachel Chatham of Mooresville. She was grandmother to Mandi Oliphant (Sean), Ashley Bruce (Matt), Justin Baughman, and Lacie Brotherton; and six great-grandchildren, Madelyn Bruce, Mason Oliphant, Gavin Bruce, Maddox Oliphant, Emry Oliphant, and Ella Bruce.

Dorcas was a faithful member of The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, Mooresville. She was a devoted Sunday school teacher for fifty years, where she committed her life in service to the Lord.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking/baking. She lived a life of love, extending her compassion to everyone around her. Her unwavering spirit and memories of her will forever live on in our hearts.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, Mooresville. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville.

The family welcomes floral tributes in honor of Dorcas as a beautiful way to remember her and her love of flowers.
