Earl Nelson Stockton, 82, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House after a brief illness.
He was born on April 24, 1942, in Candler, N.C., to the late Edgar and Blanche Lovingood Stockton. Mr. Stockton was retired from General Electric as a manager of Distribution of Operations after 33 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jones Stockton; son, Eric Stockton; and sister, Wilma Jeanne Stockton Shepherd.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Davis and husband Joey; sister, Doris Smathers; brother, James Larry Stockton and wife Noriko; brother-in-law, William “Bill” Jones Jr. and wife Barbara; granddaughters, Lindsay Lackey and husband Jason, and Madison Davis; great grandchildren, Elijah and Emery Lackey; and several nieces and nephews.
Earl was a family man; his “girls” were his everything (Linda, Suzanne, Lindsay, Madison, and his special fur girl Tippy). Surprise visits from his precious great grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. He enjoyed watching Carolina Tar Heels basketball and Sunday afternoon football, and he loved Jesus!
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 11, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, N.C., with the Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating.
