Elmer “Joe” Hager of Triangle, N.C., and formerly of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on April 2, 2024, while with his family.
Joe was born on December 23, 1939, in Mooresville into a large family and continued his life engaged with his family and involvement with McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church throughout his lifetime. Joe was an avid gardener, a mechanic, and logger. He raised cows, chickens, birds of many types and many types of vegetables.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his wife, Joanne Hager; daughter Lisa and husband Mike Brasche; son Kevin and wife Kathy Hager; daughter Denise and husband Mark Teague; daughter Cynthia and husband Eddie Black; daughter Erica and husband Art Holdsclaw; grandchildren Christina Hartzell, Erin Richter, Austin Brasche, Joshua Hager, Carmen Willmore, Joseph Black, Rebecca Black, Matthew Teague, Abigail Holdsclaw, Samuel Holdsclaw, Amanda Teague, and Zachary Teague; great grandchildren Douglas Willmore, Michael Richter, Hunter Willmore, Jaxon Hartzell, Hazel Richter, Ryder Hartzell, Jeffrey Richter, Zach Black, and Houston Black; sister Phyllis Rinehart; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, James “Tump” Hager and Lucy Covington Hager; sister, Margaret Ann Bumgarner; and brothers, Bennie Hager, James Hager, David Hager, and Donnie Hager.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, from 3 to 4 p.m. with a service following at 4 p.m. at McKendree Chapel UMC in Mooresville. The burial will be at the church cemetery after the service.
