Gussie “Eloise” Crouch Conder passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 7, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.

She was born on May 24, 1928, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late William Edgar “Ed” Crouch and Kessie Parsons Crouch. She graduated from Taylorsville High School, married Jerry Wiley Conder and lived in Charlotte, N.C., where they raised their four sons.

Eloise spent her career as a school secretary at Ashley Park Elementary School. She was always sure to initial and date her work as many of her creations were passed along to friends and family. She loved to read books, work puzzles, and watch golf, and she enjoyed preserving the homegrown vegetables from their garden.

In addition to her parents, Eloise was predeceased by two brothers, PT Crouch and Elbert Crouch; and four sisters, Royster C. Verble, Irene C. Moody, Pauline C. Pennell and Lois C. Withers.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Jerry Wiley Conder; and four sons, Jerry Wiley Conder Jr. (Deborah) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Steven Alan Conder (Charlotte) of Banner Elk, N.C., David Lee Conder (Cecelia) of Santa Rosa, Fla., and Christoper Mark Conder (Donna) of Mooresville, N.C., along with grandchildren Bryon Conder (Pam), Shelli C. Dimmer (Gregory), Kyle Conder (Whitney), Kara C. Corley (Jeff), Crystal C. Fisher (Tim), Bucky Conder and great grandchildren Morgan, Kayla, Ella, Landon, Jackson, Hannah, Jonah, Eli and Leia.
