Emory McLaurin, 70, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C.
He was born on February 20, 1953, in Surry County to the late Lawrence Ernest McLaurin and Charlene Harwell McLaurin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry McLaurin.
He was the owner/operator of McLaurin Landscaping before his retirement. Emory served his community as a Police Officer for Mooresville Police Department and Davidson College Campus Police. He was working part-time at O’Reilly Auto Parts. He enjoyed going to car shows. He had a passion for old cars and trucks and really was big into Chevys. Emory was very involved in scouts when his sons were young. He was a Cub Master for Pack #166, an Assistant Scout Master for Troop #166 and #169. He received the Order of the Arrow recognition.
Emory is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cynthia Brown McLaurin; children, Chad McLaurin, Joshua McLaurin (Shannon), and Patrick McLaurin; sister, Debbie Keener (David); sister-in-law, Crystal B. McLaurin; and grandchildren, Sam, Ashleigh, Peyton, Naomi, Reya, and Reese.
A Celebration of Emory’s life will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in the Family Life Center with Rev. Eddie Hicks and Rev. Dr. Jerry Cloninger officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be following the service.
