Ernest “Ernie” Cone Crymes Jr., 80, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.
Ernie was born July 16, 1943, in Decatur, Ga., to the late Ernest Cone Crymes and Mary Elmina McKnight Crymes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane White Crymes, and son, Whitney C. Crymes.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Sadie Warren Crymes; his children Melissa Wright (Danny) and Blake Crymes (Kelli); sister, Patricia C. Barton; grandchildren, Whitney Wright, Addie Wright, Davis Crymes, and Jake Crymes; and several nieces and nephews.
Ernie received his bachelor’s degree in 1966 and his master’s degree in 1970 from his beloved University of Georgia. He was a retired golf apparel salesman with IZOD. He was a long time member of the loving First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville.
Ernie was passionate about his faith, grandchildren, golf, bird feeding and the University of Georgia football. He and his family have been loved and nurtured by First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville and the greater community of Mooresville since the first day they arrived back in 1980. Thank you all for the love and kindness.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at Glenwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Dave Rockness officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 3 to 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
