Eugenia Rose “Jean” Hopkins Mead, 79, of Statesville, N.C., died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

She was born in Accomack County, Va., on September 13, 1944. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Hillary Thomas Collins and Mildred Taylor Collins, and her son, Kevin Dean Mead.

Jean was a graduate of Chincoteague High School in Virginia. She loved interior design and was a fantastic home cook.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Bonnie Mead Moore of Troutman, N.C.; two granddaughters, Kristen Nicole Mangrum and Kacey Noelle Moore of Troutman, N.C.; three greatgrandchildren, Silas Evan West, Farren Ivy West, and Lane Tyler Christian, all of Troutman; and a sister, Bonnie Sue Barrett of Chincoteague, Va.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
