Minister Frances Artreilia Alexander was born in Mooresville, N.C., on September 29, 1952, to the late and honorable Willie and Ida Alexander. Minister Frances peacefully transitioned to Glory on Friday, February 23, 2024, at her residence.

Minister Frances graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, N.C., in 1970. Through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Urban League, she received a certificate in Professional Development. She not only loved God but she was in love with God. She sold out and dedicated her life to the cause of Christ. Minister Frances graduated from Hood Theological Seminary in 2008 with a Diploma in Christian Ministry and completed an Associate Degree in Christian Ministry at More Than Conqueror’s College in Charlotte, N.C.

A faithful community servant, Minister Alexander served as the Interim President for the Cornelius Aglow Chapter in 1995, and was a member of Aglow International for four years. She also served as a Board Member of the Mooresville Community Pregnancy Center from 2006 to 2008. Minister Frances served as a trained Chaplain for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, where she would visit women who were incarcerated and share God’s love with them. The women in her group sessions at the jail would call her “the Church Lady,” which she loved.

Minister Frances: A born again Holy Ghost-filled believer! A dynamic Kingdom Intercessor, Licensed Minister of the Gospel, Prayer Leader and True Servant of Christ. She was the passionate founder and director of Women with Purpose Ministries, a thriving end-time work, designed to mobilize the vehicle of prayer locally and abroad. For 30-plus years, she faithfully led “A Call to Pray: Staying in the Face of God” on the first Saturday of every month at 7 a.m. in Mooresville. Many gathered to pray fervently alongside Minister Frances. Her passion was prayer in which she taught many how to pray under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

“The Power of Prayer” and “The Simplicity of Prayer” were two books she commenced to write. A kind and compassionate soul winner, she led numerous lives to Christ. Her ministry’s mission stemmed from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Minister Frances also had a heart for missions. Her love for Africa started with her first trip to Ghana in April 2000. She then led a 2019 mission trip to the Royal Gathering Children Center in Kitale, Kenya, with Pastor Ken and family. She loved the children in the village. She, in fact, sponsored a little girl in the village named Noelle.

Minister Frances was a member of The Empowerment Center Church Huntersville under the leadership of Pastor Mercy P. Jones. She loved her church and her Tribe. She dedicated her life to prayer inside and outside of the church. At the Empowerment Center, she served as a Lay Minister when called. Minister Frances also served on the Intercessory Prayer team. She even served in the Children’s Ministry when asked.

After thirty-three years of service in love, she retired from Davidson College in December of 2022. Davidson College was dear to her. In her retirement speech, Minister Frances stated “Davidson was a blessing to me.” She retired as the Program Coordinator for the Department of Pre-Medicine and Allied Health Professions.

Minister Frances not only dedicated her life to Christ, but she also made it her mission to enjoy her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed international and local travel. Shoes, red lipstick, and earrings were her thing. She loved to laugh and had a very distinguished laugh. She loved to spend time with her daughter Charity. Her newly found hobby was scrolling through reels and TikToks. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Minister Frances valued her family. She served on the Team Carr Family Reunion Committee for many years to ensure her extended family could celebrate yearly together.

Minister Frances had one desire, and that was for people to know and understand their purpose in life, what they were created for, God’s people to walk in freedom and the victory that Jesus won for them through his death, burial, and resurrection.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Charity Alexander of Mooresville, N.C.; a special soon-to-be son-in-love, Thomas Perry Jr. of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Willis Alexander of Huntersville, N.C., and Jerry Alexander (Marion) of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Brenda Patterson (Spencer) of Mooresville, Francella Dukes of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Emma Alexander of Concord, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Alexander (the late Kineth Alexander) of Huntersville, N.C.; two special cousins, Venola Hall and Mary Pryor; a long-time friend, Gwen Sowell (Bill); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
