Gary Theodore Frye, 77, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, November 26, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Born in Statesville on December 15, 1946, Gary was the son of the late Charlie Franklin Frye and Dorothy Bowman Frye Misenheimer. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Douglas & Sons as a truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Frye Baity; and brother, Stephen Franklin Frye.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Darlene King Frye; sons, Mark Frye (Jennifer), Clark Frye, and Preston “Shorty” Frye (Melanie); grandchildren, Hailey Simmons (Shaun), Paige Woodside (Alec), Payton Hendershot (Dylan), Lainie Matthews (Brayson); and Charlie Frye; and great grandchildren, Lira Simmons, Callie Woodside, Phoebe Hendershot, Evelyn Matthews, Sophie Woodside, and August Simmons.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Monday, December 2, at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Brad Borders and Rev. Michael Pharr officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Burial with full military honors will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
