George Everett Caudle, 94, died at his home in Statesville, N.C., on Saturday, July 13, 2024, following a long battle with dementia. He was born in the Stanly County community of Cottonville, N.C., and graduated from Richfield High School.

Mr. Caudle, a career educator, attended Pfeiffer College before transferring to North Carolina State University. There he received a Bachelor’s Degree (1958) and a Master’s Degree (1971) in agricultural education. He taught at Celeste Henkel High School, South Iredell High School, West Iredell High School and Bunker Hill High School, in a career spanning 30 years. He also served as assistant principal while at South Iredell. While teaching, he was actively involved with Future Farmers of America as an advisor and had many students receive the honor of State and American Farmer Degrees.

Mr. Caudle was an active member of the West Iredell Lions Club for 62 years, volunteered at Iredell Christian Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Caudle’s strong faith and belief in God led him in all of his endeavors. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Statesville and served on multiple occasions as Deacon and Elder. He taught Sunday school for the Young Men’s Bible Class and was very active in youth activities. An avid golfer, he especially treasured his playing time with the Thursday group known as the THUGS. Mr. Caudle was also instrumental in starting the South Iredell Youth Athletic Association and served as its first president for a number of years.

Mr. Caudle is survived by his wife of 67 years, June Jarrett Caudle; and three children, Janet Frazier (John), George Randall Caudle, and Julie Caudle, all of Statesville. Two grandsons, Jarrett Frazier (Leanna) and Kendall Frazier, and one great-grandson, Gavin Frazier, also survive.

Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Edna Earnhardt and Ruby Fraley of Richfield, N.C., Frances Watson of Gold Hill, N.C., and Dewey Caudle of Concord, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, and dear and loving friends.

Mr. Caudle was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hummie and Valda Huneycutt Caudle; two brothers, James and Boyce Caudle; and his sister, Katherine Ross.

A service of thanksgiving to celebrate Mr. Caudle’s life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Statesville on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. The celebration will be led by special friends and the Reverend Jeremy Cannada. The family will greet visitors immediately following. Internment is private.
