Gerald Max McGarr, 85, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Eternal Springs of Gilbert, Ariz.

Max was born November 29, 1938, and was the son of the late Roy Odell McGarr and Stella Mae McRary McGarr. He was a graduate of Statesville High School (Class of 1957), where he was the drum major. He attended the University of Kentucky, Bowling Green. He worked for IBM for 20 years, Lockheed Martin, as Vice President of International Sales, and for Eli Lily, as Vice President of Sales.

On February 12, 1984, he married Tonda Mann McGarr, who survives. Max loved golf and tennis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Wayne McGarr and Gene Odell McGarr.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Elizabeth Ann Leach (Craig) of Atlanta, Ga., and Angela Almand (Terry) of Statesville; grandchildren, Brian Fair, Stephanie Fair, Clay Almand, and Brandon Almand; four great grandchildren; and stepson, Russel Mann.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
