Glenn Richard Gessler passed away on June 14, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born on March 2, 1931, in Greenville, Ohio, to Floyd and Leona Gessler.
Glenn proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to his country. After his military service, he pursued a career at IBM, where he worked diligently until his retirement.
A faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Troutman, Glenn found solace and community in his place of worship. He was a man of strong faith and values.
In his free time, Glenn indulged in his hobbies of photography, genealogy, and cooking, which he developed a passion for in his retirement years. He actively participated in Boy Scouts with his son and grandson and was involved in Scotts Ruritan.
Glenn is survived by his children, Dr. Walter Gessler (Heather) and Julie Gessler (Greg); grandchildren, Luke Gessler, Brandon Gessler, Tia Marcum (James), and Jasmine Noel (Jeremiah); great-grandchildren, Lydia Ballert, Parker Marcum, and Charlie Grace Noel; and numerous other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 58 years, Charlotte Mae Landis Gessler, and his sisters, Rita Riegle and Karen Newbauer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2024, at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, N.C., with Pastor Dieter Punt officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Glenn Richard Gessler will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his family, and his active involvement in his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
