James Edward “Eddie” Brown Jr., 63, of Union Grove, N.C., died Friday, May 31, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Yadkin County on December 11, 1960, to Jerry Reynolds Brown and the late James E. Brown Sr.

Eddie earned his bachelor’s degree from Bible College and had formerly pastored New Testament Baptist Church in Logan, W.Va., Currytown Baptist Church in Lexington, N.C., and Redemption Baptist Church in Statesville. He enjoyed mowing the yard, woodworking, fishing, and hunting. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Allison Hensley Brown; three daughters, Dinah Royal (Ethan), Alisha Brown, and Becky Flynt (Alex); three grandchildren, Makayla Royal, Madylynn Royal, and Matthew Flynt; and two brothers, Tommy Brown (Tammy) and Marty Brown (Martha).

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 12 noon, at Island Ford Baptist Church, 2124 NC Hwy 67, 2124 NC-67, Jonesville, NC 28642, with Harry Hensley III, Jonathan Ash, and Harry Hensley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church prior to the service.
