Mr. James Robert Campbell, 70, of Wilson, N.C., and formerly of Mooresville, N.C., departed this life on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the ECU Medical Center in Greenville, N.C., after a brief illness. He was born on July 31, 1953, to Mary Reid Campbell and the late Robert Campbell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Campbell; and his sister, Joyce Hawkins.
James was a graduate of South Iredell High School and attended Limestone College. He held several different occupations over the course of his life, which included employment with Statesville Recreation Department, Iredell County Schools, Rock Hill School System and Wilson County School System. James loved working with kids and teaching the game of basketball. James can be most remembered by his love for music and basketball.
James leaves to cherish the memory of his life his mother, Mary Campbell of Mooresville, N.C.; a son, Chaz (Dianna) Campbell of Statesville, N.C.; a grandson, Lathan Campbell of Charlotte, N.C.; two step-grandchildren, Jayce Bowling and Skylar Bowling, both of Statesville, N.C.; two brothers, William Campbell of Mooresville, N.C., and Wesley Campbell of Maryland; five sisters, Barbara (Robert) Johnson and Patricia Campbell, both of Mooresville, N.C., Nanette McKelvin of Clinton, Md., Phyllis (Larry) Hill of Suitland, Md., and Lisa Allen of Middleburg, Fla.; a special friend, Colette Derys of Wilson, N.C., and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relative and friends.
A Graveside Service will be conducted, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Park at 1 p.m.
