Janet Blackwelder McClure, 73, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Hospice House in Mooresville.
She was born on February 14, 1951, in Rowan County, N.C., to the late Cary Deaton Blackwelder and Agnes Anders Blackwelder. Mrs. McClure was a 1969 graduate of South Iredell High School and received her bachelor’s degree in childhood education from UNC-Charlotte. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Outer Banks for bear watching, playing Bingo, and visiting State Parks and National Forests. However, her greatest joy was being a Nana for the last 28 years and sharing all that she enjoyed with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Anders, and beloved adopted son Eric Albea.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William “Billy” McClure Jr.; daughters, Rebecca Harper and husband Michael, Jamie McClure and ex-husband Ben Meiers-Clark; sisters, Ann Perry and husband Scottie, Dee Marley and husband Harris; beloved grandchildren, Taylor Neal, Brenden McClure and wife Kendra, Jordan Harper, Hallie Moose, Ian Harper, and Emily Moose; and nephew, Phillip Anders. Lastly, her beloved animals dogs Lizzy and Nessa; and cats China, Lily, Little Boy, and Hermione.
A Time of Remembrance will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
