Mrs. Jeannette Glass Plyler, 83, of Statesville, N.C., passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Jeannette was born October 7, 1940, in Reidsville, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Sidney and Thelma Freeman Glass. She was a graduate of Duke University and on April 3, 1964, she married the late Paul Joe Plyler, who passed away on April 25, 2009. They were members of Broad Street United Methodist Church, where in her earlier years she was the Director of Christian Education and sang in the choir. She was very active in the Statesville community, serving on many boards and committees, and she also taught painting classes at her home.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Leroy Charles Plyler, in 2023.

She is survived by one son, Jay Brooks Plyler (Patricia) of Statesville; one daughter, Wendy Plyler VanHoy (John) of Cornelius; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jamie Plyler, John Michael VanHoy, and Sarah VanHoy and Olivia Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shuman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at Troutman Funeral Home.
