Jeffery Bales, 59, of Statesville, N.C., died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Welch, W.Va., on April 25, 1965, to the late Charlie Fred Bales and Maudie Ethel Payne Bales. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Hobert Stacy, Don Stacy, James Bales, and Charlie Bales Jr.

Jeff worked for 25 years in the coal mines and then worked as a carpenter for several years. He loved hunting and fishing, but more than anything he loved spending time with his grandson, Remington.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Shania Bales (Cody Fairchild); a son, Shane Bales; grandchildren, Remington Speaks, Lilah Bales and Knox Faircloth due in October; three brothers, Ray Bales (Hattie), Roger Bales, and Buddy Stacy (Stephanie); four sisters, Nancy Bales, Sue Stacy, Patricia Sturgill (Bobby), and Marilyn Bales (Fonseca); and a special nephew, Thomas Muncy, who was like a brother to him.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Nicholson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.
