Jo Ann Kale Gibbs, 87, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at The Greens at Hickory, N.C.

She was born on July 23, 1936, in Catawba County, N.C., to the late Willie Ray and Jennie Robbins Kale. Jo Ann worked many years for Lowrance Hospital in Mooresville. She enjoyed a long career as the chief of the Radiology Department and the director of the School of Radiologic Technology at Lowrance. She was also appointed by Governor Bob Scott to the North Carolina Medical Care Commission in 1971. She loved dogs — poodles in particular!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Gibbs; sister, Phyllis Moss; and brother, Bobby Kale.

She is survived by her niece, Lou Ann Martin and husband Dwight of Catawba; nephew, Steve Moss and wife Cheryl of Catawba; nephew, Alfred Moss of Catawba; niece, Ann Pitts and husband Chris of Charlotte; great nieces, Gloria Cherry and Sandy Dalton; great nephews, Reggie Martin and Michael Moss; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Concord United Methodist Church, 7618 Monbo Road, Catawba, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local animal shelter in her memory.
