Mrs. Carol “Joann” Britt Hudson, 82, of Mount Ulla, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer at her home.

Joann was born on May 10, 1942, to Carroll and Lizzie Britt in Sampson County, N.C. Joann graduated from Hobbton High School and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph “Ted” Hudson. After retiring from Draymore Manufacturing Company in 1998, Joann enjoyed reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joann was the most kindest, sweetest, and generous person you could have ever met. She always had a smile on her face and all the patience in the world for her sweet grandchildren. Joann had many names, including Mama, Grandma, Granny, and Shug. She was a member of Triplett Church in Mooresville, where she loved her church family.

Along with her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her sister, Iris Britt Hudson.

She is survived by her children, Carol H. Christy, Phyllis “Eddie” Hobbs, Joseph “Nellie” Hudson, and Chris Hudson; grandchildren, Dana Terry, Shannon Grady, Daniel Hobbs (Brittany), Laura Bouchard (Doron), Joseph Hudson III, and Shaun Cruse (Shena); sister, Nida Britt Giddens; 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at Triplett Church with Rev. Jim King officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank the members of Triplett United Methodist Church and others for all their prayers, cards, phone calls, and food. The family would also like to thank her hospice nurse August with VIA Health Partners for all her support and loving care.
