Joe Max Pender, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. He was born on January 31, 1940, in Cornelius, N.C., to the late Lester and Minnie Lee Isenhour Pender.

Joe was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of the Williams Masonic Lodge, Oasis Shriners, and Teamsters Local 71.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Buddy T. Pender and Billy R. Pender; and his sister, Sara D. Gant.

Those left to cherish Joe’s memory are his loving wife, Cacheeta “Chi-Chi” Pender; children, Larry D. Kennedy, Lisa K. Charles (Chris), and Christina R. Pender; brother, Jerry M. Pender of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Joseph Charles, Cheltsea Kennedy, and Amanda Yancey; great grandchildren, Jaxsyn, Easton, Tanner, Caselyn, Bragin, Talis; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville.
