Joel Wayne Cook, a devoted husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on September 15, 2024, at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C. Born on July 27, 1943, in Iredell County, Joel was the son of the late David J. and Macie Alventine Moose Cook. Together with his brother Dave, he made a name for himself as a local plumber, pipe fitter, and welder in his hometown of Mooresville, N.C.

Joel had a passion for animals, small livestock sales, and collecting a variety of items. He particularly loved bluegrass music, western books, and watching Svengoolie every Saturday night. He was a man of simple pleasures and cherished moments spent with his beloved family.

Joel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Faye Rankin Cook; brother, JD Cook; sisters, Pauline Price, Audrey Quay, Aliene Little and Betty Wallace; and his fur baby, Jesse. He is survived by his children, Joel Brian Cook (Kelly), Linda Jo Cook, and David Wayne Cook (Natalie); his brother, David “Dave” Cook (Katie); as well as grandchildren, Chris, Casey, Hannah, Dillon, Ashley, Joey and Brittany; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his beloved cats, Hannibal and Cannibal.

Funeral services for Joel Wayne Cook will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel in Mooresville. Prior to the service, there will be a receiving of family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. to pay their respects. Following the service, Joel will be laid to rest at Rocky Mount Church Cemetery in Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Lane Hospice in Salisbury.
