John David Vandyke, 66, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.
He was born on September 13, 1958, in Beckley, W.Va., to Okie Keen Vandyke and Carl Junior Vandyke. David was a member of Troutman Church of God; he enjoyed going on mission trips with church members. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching football and golf on TV. David was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sister, Diana Jean Crawford; and brothers, Carlos Junior Vandyke and Jessee Lee Vandyke.
He is survived by his son, Nathaniel D. Vandyke; mother, Okie Keen Pettry; Nathaniel’s mother, Trisha Keen; sister, Kathy Hayes (Rodney); brother, James Vandyke (Sandy); sister-in-law, Sue Vandyke; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, from 12 to 1 p.m. with a service following at 1 p.m. at Troutman Church of God with Rev. Conner Lambert and Rev. Roger Crider officiating.
