John Robert Solomon Jr., 72, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on August 24, 1951, in Jacksonville, Ill., to the late John Robert Solomon Sr. and Shirley Theobald Solomon. John was retired from the University of Illinois. He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, coaching, attending his four grandchildren’s events, and being with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Solomon.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geri Buckles Solomon; children, William John Solomon and wife Rachel, Lori Solomon and companion, Lori Umstead; sister, Beth Wood; brothers, Chris Solomon, Greg Solomon, Tom Solomon and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Lindsey, Logan, Bailey, and Ansley; and great granddaughter, Deklyn.

A Memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
