Laura Kristi Hancock of Mooresville, N.C., passed away this week on Monday, June 17, 2024, five days before her 56th birthday.
She was born June 22, 1968, to Edward and Cornelia Hancock. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church while growing up in Charlotte. Kristi graduated in 1986 from Olympic High School. She found her way to working at Horizon Eye Care. She loved doing the technical aspects of her job as well as working with the patients.
Kristi moved to Mooresville, the hometown of her beloved grandparents. She resided there until her death this week. An avid dog lover, Kristi brought home and cared for a number of rescues. She was loved by all of her faithful companions.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Johnsie Hancock, and Jesse and Janie Brown.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Russell and Zachary Lane; two precious grandchildren, Koltyn Brooks and MyKenna Mark; her parents, Edward and Cornelia Hancock; and two sisters, Lisa and Stacie. Kristi is also survived by aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Kristi’s neighbors and her other mother, Mrs. Sharon, for looking out for her.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, with Rev. Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville.
