Laura Stevenson Cashion, beloved friend, sister and aunt, passed away at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, N.C., on April 8, 2024.
Laura was born January 27, 1937, in Iredell County, N.C., to Paul and Lucille Horton Cashion. She grew up on a cotton farm and attended Cool Springs High School, Clevenger Business College, Mars Hill Junior College, and received a B.A. Degree in English from Catawba College. After teaching at elementary schools in Rowan, Davidson and Alexander counties, she began helping others through a second career as a home health aide. Laura was most happy when meeting and interacting with people. She found the perfect retirement job as a Walmart greeter where many new and lasting friendships were formed. Laura leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness to her many friends and church family.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Houston (Bub) Cashion. She is survived by one brother, Joe Cashion and wife Kathy of Lexington; sister-in-law, Peggy Cashion of Cleveland; niece, Myra Cashion Moore and husband Zachary of China Grove; nephew, Matt Cashion and wife Jennifer of Pittsboro; and step niece, Callie Dow and husband Nick of Lexington.
A Celebration of Life will be held at God’s Church of Faith in Kannapolis on Sunday, April14, 2024, at 4 p.m. conducted by Pastor Jeffrey Upright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donors choice of charity.
