Lillian Trivette Shoemaker, 87, entered the golden gates of heaven on Friday, November 8, 2024, at her residence in Statesville, N.C. She was born on September 18, 1937, in Alexander County to Clyde Trivette and Marietta S. Trivette.
She graduated from Harmony High School, Class of 1955, and retired from Hunt Manufacturing Company in Statesville in 1998. Lillian was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She treasured her time with her “sweet pea” Emily, who enjoyed quizzing her on math facts and spelling words to keep her mind sharp. Lillian loved watching Westerns, crocheting, and doing word searches. She also enjoyed visits from family and friends. Earlier in life, she and her husband Richard took many bus trips across the United States, making lasting memories and friendships.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Franklin Shoemaker; and her brother, Larry Trivette.
She is survived by her sons, Ricky Shoemaker (Amy) of Clemmons, Randy Shoemaker of Hamptonville, and John Shoemaker of Statesville; honorary daughter, Kathy J. Gallagher of Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother, Charles Trivette of Harmony; her sister, Linda Jolly of Statesville; sister-in-law, Betty Bolin of Statesville; grandchildren, Kassie Armstrong (J.J.), Adam Nations (Megan), Sarah Nations, and Tamara Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Emily Armstrong (her “sweet pea”), Amia Green, Lily Nations, and Everly Nations; great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Woods; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Kassie and other family members would like to express their gratitude to Lillian’s caregivers, Renee, Phyllis, and Barbara, for helping Lillian fulfill her wish to remain in her home for as long as possible.
Services for Lillian will be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in the Westmoreland Chapel on Friday, November 15, 2024. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. with her nephew, Pastor Johnny Bolin, and Pastor John officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brandon Trivette, Jason Trivette, Hunter Trivette, Bryce Anderson, Gary Fox, Kenny Fox, Tommy Jackson, and Terry Turner.
