Linda Gayle Comer Crawford, 82, of Statesville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024. She was at home surrounded by her family as she entered into God’s Heavenly home.

Born in Greensboro, N.C., on July 9,1942, she was the daughter of the late Clifford William Comer and Fern Gaither Comer.

In addition to her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Everette Crawford Sr., and son, Jimmy Crawford, who passed days apart in 1991. She was also also preceded by three brothers, Lloyd Tay Comer, Bobby Comer, and her twin brother, Larry Dale Comer; and one sister, Bernice Doss.

Linda retired from International Paper Company and went on to work with Iredell-Statesville Schools as a bus driver and cafeteria worker for 14 years. She spent many years taking care of others, especially her family. Her greatest pride and joy in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of Statesville Full Gospel Tabernacle – The Wave for many years. She loved to sing with church groups and even solos, especially “Thank You Lord for Your Blessings on Me.” She enjoyed helping with church yard sales. Linda gained the name “The Hot Dog Lady” because at every yard sale, or festival, people that didn’t even like hot dogs would buy them from Linda because she had a way with people that was unique and extraordinary.

She was a great cook and friend to everyone she ever met. She knew no stranger in this life. To say that Linda will be missed is an understatement, but to know she is reunited with her family and friends in Heaven gives comfort to all knowing that she is at rest.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Fred Everette Crawford Jr. (Jennifer) and Lisa Crawford; brother, Boyd Comer (Nellie); and sister, Judy Haynesworth (James).

She is further survived by her grandchildren, Morgan Crawford (Benson), Kayla Mansfield (Caleb), Jamie Crawford and Hadyen Crawford; her great-grandchildren, Brayden Boss, Bentley Boss, Bayleigh Boss, Emmalyn McCoy, Jameson McCoy, Ellyson McCoy, Maryn Mansfield, Judah Mansfield and Ellis Mansfield; and numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Statesville Full Gospel Tabernacle – The Wave, 135 Village Point Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Tammy James and Pastor Max Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
