Lizzie Lee Harris Rickert, 85, of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Oak Hill, Alabama, on August 27, 1939, to the late Arthur Lee Harris and Bella Gould Harris. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Zelinda Powell; son-in-law, Walter Powell; and six siblings.

Liz worked as a presser in dry cleaning, and for many years she also worked babysitting. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning, but most of all she enjoyed being a wife and taking care of her husband.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 61 years, Amiel Rickert; a son, Donald McClelland; a daughter, Majell Eller (Steven); four grandchildren, Zalima Rickert, Nikole Vestal, Tanisha Gilbert, and Elizabeth Gilbert; six great-grandchildren, Cahmad Gillus, Jeremiah Dalton, Jaiden Gilbert, Yahseim Wyche, Taliyah Barber, and Ka’ylee Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Timothy Bates officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help offset final arrangement costs.
