Lois Jean Rector Lovette, 83, of Statesville, N.C., passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Lois Jean was born on January 21, 1941, in Alexander County, N.C., one of ten children born to the late Earnest James Rector and Beulah Icenhour Rector.

She attended and graduated from Stony Point High School. She was married to Robert Glenn Lovette on June 27, 1964, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage earlier this year. She worked alongside him for 28 years at the Newton Tag Office. She loved spending time with her husband on many Christian Tour trips, Daytona trips, or visits to their condo in Myrtle Beach, and spending time with her grandchildren, often taking them to the West Iredell Pool. She loved walking on the beach, finding seashells, and Diet Cheerwine. After all, it was the only kind of wine she drank. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Lois was preceded in death by six brothers, Henkel Icenhour, Clifford Rector, Graydon Rector, Johnny Rector, Glenn Rector, and J.P. Rector; and two sisters, Christine Massey and Jo Ann Frye.

Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Sheila Lovette Anderson (Hugh) and Sandra Lovette Cook (Jeffrey); seven grandchildren, Ashley Cottone (Justin), Brandon Cook (Lauren), Lauren Mack (Doug), Hugh Anderson III (Jade), Jessica Winters (Davey), Mackenzie Strange (Anson), and Erica Cook. Eleven great-grandchildren will miss visiting her in her favorite rocking chair, along with her sister Mildred Clark.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, at Beulah Baptist Church with funeral services following at 3 p.m. with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandson, grandsons-in-law, Brandon Cook, Hugh Anderson III, River Pendergrass, Davey Winters, Douglas Mack, and Anson Strange. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gordon Hospice House. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff, Lorrie and Annette, for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to Lois in her final days.

Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
