Marie Johnson Cash, 97, of Statesville, N.C., died Thursday, December 19, 2024, following an illness.

She was born May 22, 1927, to the late Otis Franklin Johnson and Isolene Whitlock Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Cash Jr., and a daughter, Lynne Cash.

Marie was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her church family dearly. Her hobbies included doing word search puzzles and watching Law and Order. More than anything, she loved her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ronny Cash (Nancy) and Chris Cash (Pam); four grandchildren, Nick Cash (Jessica), Amber Cash, Kristi Mixson (Jim), and Shelley Bowman; eight great-grandchildren, Jay Mixson (Stef), Addison Mixson, Jacob Bowman, Noah Bowman (Allie), Cooper Bowman, Jayda Burchette, Kaydence Stokes, and Junior Stokes; a brother, Elmer Johnson (Mary); and three sisters, Mary Wise (Buddy), Carol Smith, and Patricia Stevenson.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Scott Eanes, Pastor Paul Hill and Pastor Darren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
