Ms. Marlene Diane Rucker, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 24, 2024. She was born in Iredell County on November 15, 1984, and was the daughter of Donald Lee Rucker and Shirley Ann Horne Rucker.

She attended the Statesville City Schools and was a loving companion, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was employed as a CNA at Autumn Care of Statesville.

In addition to her parents, Donald Lee and Shirley Ann Rucker, she leaves to cherish the memory of her life her fiancé, Robert “Rob” Thompson of the home; her children, Jaleel Miller, Malik Ray, Amir Ray, and Raziya Ray, all of the home; a brother, Curtis (Princess Laura Clark) Rucker of Statesville; her fur baby, Rico; her aunts and uncles, David Horne, Stanley Horne, Wileen Horne, Sharon (Butch Whitehead, Deborah Horne, Bert Rucker and Flossie Rucker; a special nephew, Steven Morrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Reverend John Mott officiating. Members of the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence, 222 Job Drive, Statesville, at other times.
