Mary Jean Hefner Wiles, 86, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away May 2, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., after an extended illness. She was born May 2, 1938, in Wilkes County to the late Robert Daniel Hefner and Dolly Lance Hefner.
Mary was a textile worker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She loved her church family, gospel music, her family, flowers and cooking. She was known for making the best biscuits around.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Harding; second husband, Sam Wiles; one son, James Ray Harding; one infant daughter, Glenda Ann Harding; one infant granddaughter, Brooklynn Leigh Lackey; and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Ladd and husband James “Buddy” of Kernersville, Shelby Welborne of Taylorsville, Barbara Herman of Taylorsville, and Debbie Killian and husband Derek of Hickory; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Sandy Messer.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 8, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church Stony Point. Pastor James Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Jamie Ladd, Cody Ladd, Joe Robins, Josh Iversen, Casey Iverson and Caleb Iverson. Memorials may be given to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 191 Sipe Road, Taylorsville NC 28681.
