Michael Mecimore, 71, of Taylorsville, N.C., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

Michael was born July 18, 1953, in Alexander County, the son of the late Tommy Mecimore and Irene Tedder Mecimore.

Michael was saved when he was 11 years old. His Sunday school teacher at Linney’s Grove led him to the Lord. As he was growing up in Vashti, he loved to help the farmers out there with their tobacco. He would ride his bicycle to help them or they would come and get him. He bought his first car with money he earned in tobacco. He loved to work it but he never smoked.

Michael cut pulpwood for a while helping his uncle. He worked at Lewittes Furniture for a while and then he worked as a spring up man at Broyhill Furniture for 21 years. He left there to start his own mowing business. When he started out in about 2000, he often had 20 to 25 yards that he did all by himself, and a couple of those yards were churches. Then he started mowing Three Forks Church lawn and cemetery. He took great pride in making the Lord’s house look good.

Michael had always been a prayer warrior, and he loved to go to camp meetings and revivals. He was a faithful member of Three Forks Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. The deacons at the church asked him to start a prayer room for the youth. He loved to be in there with them and encouraged them to pray, and they would when they were called on. He loved to see them grow in the Lord.

Those left to cherish and honor his memories include his wife of 30 years, Dianne St. Clair Mecimore, who thought that Michael was the most Godliest, praying man she had ever known; his sons, Michael Chad Mecimore (Cathy) of Oak Island, N.C., and Jason Lee Mecimore (Misty) of Taylorsville; his step-son, Josh Bowman of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Olivia Mecimore, Alexis Mecimore, Adam Mecimore, Kara Mecimore, McKayla Mecimore, Ella Mecimore, and Uri Mecimore; his sister, Barbara Mecimore of Hiddenite; his brother, David Mecimore (Pam) of Taylorsville; his aunt Madeline Fox of Hiddenite; and a number of other family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Dr. Carson Moseley, Pastor Stephen Dagenhart, and Pastor Mark Robinette will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The young prayer room will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons Fund to Three Forks Baptist Church for Western North Carolina.
