Mr. Nathaniel Shuford, 80, son of the late William and Emma Summers Shuford, was born June 11,1944 in Iredell County, N.C. He departed this life on November 6, 2024, at the Hospice Inn in Melville, N.Y.

He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Barbara Ann Shuford.

He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Martha Flowers, Margaret Shuford, Zelda Shuford, Bertha Rosby, CoraLee Powell, Maggie Setzer, and Ethlelene Johnson; two brothers, Alphonzo Shuford and William Shuford Jr.

He attended Morningside High School and was a well respected chef for over 40 years. His culinary career began in Statesville, N.C., and continued on Long Island, N.Y. He proudly served up to 1,000 patrons a day at The Woodbury Country Club. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing on Long Island courses, as well as traveling the country to compete in the sport he loved.

Mr. Shuford leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Barbara Ann Shuford of Huntington, N.Y.; his daughter, Rhonda Shuford Jackson; step daughters, Tiffany Malone (David), and Jolienne Walters Harvey (David); step sons, Terrence Whitfield and William Credle; grandchildren, Dewayne Lamar Shuford, Joshua Tyrell Pittman, Hannah Baptiste, Brandon Malone, David Zachary Harvey, Trayvon Credle, and Tiara Whitfield; and great grandson, Kaleb Lamar Shuford; and sister-in-law Joyce Chambers. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary in Statesville.
