Neal Aaron Henderson, 59, of Tokyo, Japan, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in Statesville, N.C. He was born on Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane County, Wash., on January 19, 1965, to Reece J. Henderson and the late Eileen Anthony Henderson.
Neal attended West Iredell High School, where he played football every year. After graduation, he earned a degree in industrial engineering from N.C. State University. He began his career working for Northern Telecom (Nortel). He later worked as a project manager for IBM, and eventually retired from Lenovo. Neal appreciated the extensive opportunities his work provided him to travel internationally. He especially loved spending time at Lake Norman with his friends, who were like family to him. He was also an avid fan of heavy metal bands and enjoyed going to rock concerts.
Neal was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Henderson. He is survived by his father, Reece Henderson of Statesville; wife, Aya Henderson of Tokyo, Japan; daughter, Kisha Henderson of Bangkok, Thailand; son, Sean Henderson of Tokyo; brother, Anthony Henderson (Merrilynne) of Statesville; sister, Coleen Olive (John) of Statesville; and father-in-law, Toichi Aikawa, and mother-in-law, Sumiko Aikawa, both of Japan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 4 until 5 p.m., and on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1339 Sloans Mill Road, Union Grove, with Pastor Bill Troutman officiating.
