O’Bryen Ke’Shawn Chambers, 37, beloved son of Sandra Jean Chambers and Jeffrey Eugene Steele Sr., was born in Iredell County, N.C., on November 30, 1986, to Jeffrey Steele (Stephanie) and Sandra Jean Chambers, whom he loved dearly. He departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Catawba, N.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Isaiah Billips.

He was a graduate of Statesville High School and he played track, baseball, where he was coached by Robert Daye. He loved music and wanted to be a rapper. He also loved animals, had a big heart, was good at drawing. His favorite color was red, favorite football team was the Carolina Panthers, and he loved the water, loved his kids, family, neighborhood children, and the mother of his kids and his siblings. He was very independent.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, in addition to his beloved parents, his children, London Chambers, Landyn Rankin, and Laila Rankin, all from Indiana, Ind.; grandmother, Mary Lois Steele; siblings, Talisha Moore Grissom (Tori), of Charlotte, Jeffery Steele Jr., and Corey Steele, Michael Dunlap, Alex Avery, Justin Avery, and Tina Dunlap, all of Cleveland, N.C., Amanda Billips, Natalie Billips, and Herman Eugene Billips III, of Jonesville, N.C., and Erica Smith; uncles, Christopher (Regina) Steele of Statesville, Donald (Lori) Chambers of Cary, Kivett Chambers (Latisha), Joseph Chambers (Sonia), Shawn Chambers (Shemeka), Thomasine Chambers, and Erica Cooper (Tony), all of Statesville; special auntie, Traci Pettiford, Grace Jones, Paulette Spencer Rucker, Angela Harris, and Michelle Daye; godmothers, Lori Dalton Chambers, Glenda Jones Hall, and Avril Chambers; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
