Pattie Jean Bennett Cassell, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her residence in Statesville, N.C. She was born on March 25, 1947, in Iredell County, N.C., to William Grady Bennett and Lois Adams Bennett.

In May of 1987, she married Richard Harris Cassell, and they renewed their vows in 2024. She attended Scotts Rosenwald School and Unity High School, and worked at Beauty Maid Mills, Holly Farms, and Zimmer Distribution. She served as a Missionary, a Stewardess, and as an Usher at Holsey Memorial Church in Statesville.

Pattie was one of a kind, and a jokester, who loved watching TV, shopping, and especially riding out to go places. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Cassell; daughter, Patricia Smyre (Cedric); grandchildren, Patrick Mauney (Alesha), Alec Cassell, Dimple Jackson, and Kameron Jackson; brothers, David Bennett (Dorothy), and Franklin Bennett; sisters, Margaret Adams, and Ray-Nell Poole (John); aunts, Florence Wilson of Hiddenite, and Willie Mae Bennett of Statesville; special niece, Jessica Burton (Brian); nieces, Marilyn Adams, Keli Bennett, and Arie Bennett; and nephews, Donnell Bennett, and David Ellison.

She is also survived by friends, Emmaline Bellamy, Buford Bellamy, Louise Boone, Marcus Feimster, Odell Williams, Bertha Hamilton, Josephine Daniels Miller, and Brenda Dunlap.

Visitation for Mrs. Cassell will be held at Holsey Memorial Church on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10 until 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery.
