Paul Joe Cannon Jr. passed away peacefully at Amorem Hospice House in Valdese, NC.., on July 23, 2024, at the age of 66.

Paul, who was known as “Spunky,” was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joe Cannon Sr., and his sister, Pamela Cannon Phillips Evans; as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Bobbie McCoy Cannon; and his sister, Kimberly Cannon Muncy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul was born deaf in Charlotte, N.C. He graduated with honors from The North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, N.C., where he also immensely enjoyed The Boy Scouts of America Troop 201. He was the youngest deaf scout to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduation, he attended Gallaudet College for the deaf in Washington, D.C.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
