Rachel Mills Powers, 86, of Mooresville, N,C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Rachel was born on April 3, 1937, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Charles and Pearl Turman Mills. She was a volunteer at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen and was a Pink Lady volunteer at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center for over 20 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry C. Powers; and siblings, Stella Hucks, Erleen Perkins, C. W. Mills Jr., and Aurelia Lewis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Joan Bishop, Jill McGee (Don), Jan Long and Cliff Powers (Meredith). Also surviving are her sisters, Sue Sherrill and Carolyn Mills of Mooresville; grandchildren, Amber Bishop (Pamela), Allyson McGee, Chloe Hillinger (Chad), Hannah Powers and Graham Powers; and great grandchildren, Ayden, Isaac, Sophie, Olivia and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Rachel M. Powers will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Will Gipe officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church.
