Raven Mitchell Lunsford, 75, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House.
Raven was born on August 28, 1948, in Wilkes County to his late parents, Hubert Lunsford and Edith Johnson Lunsford. He worked for Bernhardt Furniture for over twenty years and then went on to the Iredell County Sherriff’s Office, where he retired as a sergeant. Raven was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church. He was known as a great handyman and could fix just about anything. He was always up for a challenge. Above all else, he was a loving father, husband and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Raven was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne L. Harris, and brother, Dean Lunsford.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-five years, Paula Millsaps Lunsford; children, Penny L. Lyerly (Rob), Kelly L. Crouse (Chad), and Evan Lunsford, siblings, Gurney Lunsford (Brenda), Kathy L. Campbell, and Brenda L. Moose (David); and grandchildren, Dillon Whitley, Karly Crouse and Landon Crouse. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Spry will officiate. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Gordon Hospice House.
